Basic Diagram for Edging

Featured Techniques: Using SCMR with rings off ring, split rings and cluny leaves.

Red = S1 "-" = picot
Blue = S2 "--" = 3/16" omp
R = True Ring "---" = 1/4" omp
SCMR = Self Closing Mock Ring omp = Open measured picot
Ch = Chain rw = Reverse work
SR =Split Ring SS = Switch shuttle
<#> = Cluny leaf # of passes CTM = Continuous thread method
lppr = Last picot previous ring rep = Repeat

CTM
R A: 3 - 4
R B: 4 --- 2 - 2 - 3, rw (--- 1/4" omp)

*Ch a: 3 - 3, rw SS
SCMR C: 2 [R D: 4 + (lppr) 2 - 2 - 2 - 3] 2 [R E: 3 + (lppr) 2 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 3] 2 [R F: 3 + lppr 2 - 2 - 2 - 4] 2, rw SS
Ch b: 3 - 3, rw
R G: 3 + (lppr) 2 - 2 -- 4 (-- 3/16" omp)
SR H: 4 / 3
SR I: 4 / 3
R J: 4 + 2 - 2 - 3, rw*
Rep from * to * for length on last repeat omit SR I and R J.
Turn Rep SCMR C, SR H and R G
Continue from * to * joining chains at opposing picots and between SR's H-I
Rep SCMR C, join last SR to R A. Rep SCMR C joining to R A. Cut, tie and hide with preferred method.

Cluny Bookmark

Substitute Ch a: 3 - <10>, rw SS and Ch b: <10> - 3, rw, after turn, ,making respective cluny leaf, join chain portion to opposing picots.

Suggested changes to pattern:

Omit SCMR on turn, repeat SR instead. This would make a mirrored egding.

Omit final SCMR, instead add additional ring of 12 ds, leave thread long. Make a bunch of threads of desired color and thread thru the last ring from the back side of work, then thread thru back side of ring A, front side of last SR and front of the last ring again. Use your thread end from the final ring to wrap around and secure and then hide the thread in the bunch. Clip excess to even.

You may print this lesson and share it, please give recognition to the designers as noted above.
